NCAP SWIMMING COACHING - LEVEL 1 TECHNICAL COURSE  
   


To be equipped with the basic fundamental skills of coaching, enrol for the Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) NCAP Swimming Coaching Course Level 1 Technical Course. In this course, you will learn the basic fundamentals of coaching in particular to lesson planning, class organisational skills, water safety, teaching of swim strokes, etc

 
   
 
   

Certification
Applicants for this course must fulfill the following criteria:

1) Possess a valid* Life Saving 1, 2 & 3 Certificate OR a Bronze Medallion Cert.
2) Possess a valid CPR Certificate OR a recognised Standard First Aid Cert.
3) Possess NCAP Level 1 Theory Certificate
4) Age limit: 18 years & above as on 1st January of the year of intake

*Validity period shall be 3 YEARS from the date of examination stated on the certificate.

Before the applicants are allowed into the course, they must pass a Skills Test. The Skills Test requires all applicants to swim four mandatory strokes - Frontcrawl, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Backstroke for 25 metres.

The Top 40 applicants who pass the Skills Test will be accepted into the course.  Applicants who pass but are not in the Top 40 will be allowed to attend the next course intake.  Applicants who fail the Skills Test will have to reapply at the next intake whose dates will be made known online only at a later date.

Date, Time & Venue
Lessons proper are conducted every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm unless stated otherwise.  The entire duration of this course will last about two months.

All practical lessons are held at Toa Payoh Swimming Complex unless stated otherwise. Normal entry fees apply.  All theory lessons are held at SSA's Conference Room (Note: Theory lessons for September 2011 intake will be held at Ministry of Education's CCA Branch seminar room).
 
       
    Course Requirements

Course Requirements
Applicants who are admitted into the course proper are strictly required to fulfill a minimum requirement of 80% of the total number of lessons conducted. Failing to do so will constitute an immediate failure and will subsequently be removed from the course proper.

 
       
   

Course Attachment
Upon passing both Practical and Theory Exams, you will be required to fulfill a minimum of 24 attachment training sessions with any of our affiliates which can be found here on our website.  The minimum duration of such an attachment is 3 months (based on twice a week) with the max at 6 months (once a week)

 
   

 

 

Application
All registrations must be done in person. No fax or email will be entertained.  When registering, you must produce all your ORIGINAL certificates. No scanned or faxed or emailed or photocopied documents will be accepted.

Upon your successful registration, you will be issued an Official Receipt by us. Do keep the receipt and remember to bring it and your NRIC on the day of Skills Test for verification purpose.

Please note that refunds for any non-attendance of the skills test will only be considered with a valid medical certificate.

The Singapore Sports Council (SSC) & Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) reserve the right to cancel , postpone, change the venue(s), dates and time of the course at their discretions. They are also not to be held responsible for any claims arising from injuries, damages or loss of lives sustained and/or incurred while attending the course and this includes all costs incurred as a result of such claims.

Applicants whom SSA eventually removes from its entire course due to repeatedly poor attendance, will not have their reinstate requests entertained unless they are strongly substantiated by genuine reasons which are deemed to be inevitable and due to unforeseen circumstances. Even so, such requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Similarly, applicants who fail the Skills Test or the Practical and/or Theory Exams are not allowed to appeal to have their results reviewed.
