On Sunday, 8 October 2006, Singapore hosted the
FINA Marathon Swimming World Cup 2006 Singapore
the second last leg of the prestigious series swum by
world-class swimmers in 19 locations worldwide.

 

In conjunction with the biggest swimming event to hit Singapore’s shores,
Singapore Swimming Association also organised the
FUJI XEROX Singapore Open Water Swimming 2006,
a local mass swim event with attractive giveaways.

event also chose from distances of 500m, 1.5km and 3km.
In addition, there was a Charity Swim category (1.5km and 3km)
in aid of the
Children's Cancer Foundation (CCF).

Event:

This will be the first time an international open water swimming event will be held in Singapore. The FINA Marathon Swimming World Cup 2006 is held under the auspices of the Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA), the international governing body for swimming, diving, waterpolo, synchronised swimming and open water swimming. The event is the premier world cup series and will showcase the world's top open water swimming talents.

The upcoming FINA Marathon Swimming World Cup 2006 will see the best of the world's open water marathon swimmers competing against one another in a 10km distance swim at Singapore's scenic East Coast Park.

Event:

FUJI XEROX Singapore Open Water Swimming 2006, a mass swim event of 500m, 1.5km and 3km distances for local Open Water swimmers.  Each participant will receive a goodie bag, t-shirt and personalised certificate of participation.  For 1.5km and 3km events, there are attractive prizes worth S$3,200 to be won.

Charity Swim:

There will be a Charity Swim category (1.5km and 3km only), in aid of the Children's Cancer Foundation (CCF).  Participants are required to pledge/collect for a minimum donation of S$200 in aid of the CCF.  Registration Fee for participants in this category will be waived.

All pledge cards and cash are to be returned to the Singapore Swimming Association when participants collect their race kits.

The participant with the highest donation amount collected will receive a prize.  All Charity swimmers will receive an additional token of appreciation from Fuji Xerox Singapore and CCF.
